He’ll never leave that island.
Thanks to the generosity of a good friend, I got the chance to see an advanced screening of Martin Scorsese's latest expression of his obsession with Leonardo DiCaprio, "Shutter Island". While I would not say that I hated the movie - it certainly has quite a bit going for it - something about it just did not seem right to me. It probably did not help that the only seats available in the packed theater were in the front row, so what I remember most about the experience is having to strain my neck and eyes to see DiCaprio's giant scowl for a little over two hours straight.
The Valentine’s Day mixtape for single folks
After consulting with a music-savvy team of shy romantics, I have selected 15 songs for those of you who plan to spend Valentine's Day on your own. The selection reflects my own musical tastes, but as a perpetual third wheel, I feel my experience on the subject should support the choices that I have made. So queue up the playlist get comfortable with a warm blanket and a nice book - and maybe a box of tissues and some junk food.
Ohayocon 2010 – Or, My First Con
I apologize to any regular readers for my absence. I could say that a series of complications have prevented me from updating over the past few weeks, but that is not entirely true. What is true is that I spent a weekend at Ohayocon, an anime/manga/video game convention, where I cosplayed and attended a few panels and took some pictures. I would now like to share my experience with you.
