mouseandhat Wednesday: Pastafarianism
A few months ago, I was considering the intricacies of Pastafarianism when I found myself lost in The Void.
The feeling was utterly immersive. Every color had meaning, every sound caught my ear and yanked my head in search of danger. I could tell that, in The Void, I had entered a unique world with an ecology and anatomy all its own, one removed from reality but at the same time touching on the same foundation.
This venture into The Void brought more than pleasant imagery and ambience, though. Lurking in the dark yet inviting plains was an intangible danger. Every second was felt as my life was drained from me. I sacrificed a part of myself, planting it in the wasteland and praying for it to grow, but I constantly felt the risk involved should such efforts prove fruitless. My life force was seeping out of me with each moment I spent in The Void, and even the slightest poor decision or wrong move could lead to my demise.
There was an order of sorts in The Void, a set of rules that clearly dictated everything but a set with which I was not familiar. Was I being used by the Sisters? What purpose or role did they serve? Were they manifestations of beauty, womanhood, nature or something else? And what of the Brothers, those grotesque creatures who proclaimed law over the land? Where did I fit into all of this? How did I ever find my way into The Void, and now that I was there, what was I to do?
The experience was, to be sure, dreamlike. It was as unfathomable and incredible as the noodly appendages of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, that most holy of grain-based deities. But The Void was too much for me. I was overwhelmed. I could not get far before the weight of existing within that realm brought me to a halt. I balked at the thought of retracing my steps and attempting once more to breach The Void from the start. I am sure that if I had completed the journey and made it to the end, it would have been a fulfilling endeavor, but I leave that opportunity for others. There is something great to be found in The Void, but the effort to achieve it was too much for me. Perhaps I will take a stroll into that realm once again in the future.
For anyone curious about what lies in The Void, take a glimpse of it in the following video. Be aware that The Void is an Adult Experience with Adult Themes and Content. It is not Suitable For Children.
Tune in next week for the next edition of mouseandhat (and apologies for anyone who feels this week’s article was something of a cop-out). The topic will be:
