Ohayocon 2010 – Or, My First Con

I apologize to any regular readers for my absence. I could say that a series of complications have prevented me from updating over the past few weeks, but that is not entirely true.

What is true is that I spent a weekend at Ohayocon, an anime/manga/video game convention, where I cosplayed and attended a few panels and took some pictures. I would now like to share my experience with you.

Product review: Clocky, the alarm clock that runs away

Before, I mentioned how poor college student types such as myself could make their own giant chalkboards using chalkboard paint. Now I am here to tackle another issue that many college students (and countless others) face: waking up in time for class/work/whatever.
Humanity created alarm clocks to help even the drowsiest wake up on time. But [...]

Halloween in Athens 2009

Note: This post originally had a number of pictures showing both my costume and the costumes of various others. The images have since been lost. I may seek to recover them in the future, but for the moment, they are left out.
In my post a few days before Halloween describing my reasons for going on [...]

Until next time…

To those who may be waiting for an update:
I’m taking a bit of a hiatus from blogging. On account of my tendency toward the verbose, updates tend to take a notable chunk of time for me. Over the next month or so, I will have many more obligations than usual, so I cannot guarantee even [...]

DIY: chalkboard for the cheap college student

I’ve had this idea in my head that it would be awesome to have a chalkboard in my room. I’m not talking about one of those little notebook-sized ones that you can stick to refrigerators or put above your computer desk. I’m talking about a full chalkboard, like the sort found in a classroom.

Washington, D.C. trip wrap-up

For anyone waiting for a video of our third day in D.C., I’m afraid that I haven’t really got anything for you.
We spent our last full day doing various things that couldn’t really be recorded on video. Jeremy and Devin went to a nice sushi place, then we went to a mall for a few [...]

Washington, D.C. trip day 2

Today was the first full day of our stay in D.C.
We hit the Mall once again, this time checking out the many interesting buildings of the Smithsonian Institution. We checked out the Air and Space Museum, which was crowded, and the Museum of Natural History, as well as a few other odds and ends.
And once [...]

Washington, D.C. trip day 1

All right. For the next few days, Devin, Jeremy’s brother Eric and I will be hanging out around Washington, D.C. with Jeremy, who is interning with the Washington Post. Rather than write about all the neat things that we are doing, I thought it would be much more interesting to try my hand at video [...]

"We all have the right to do that which makes us feel complete."

It troubles me that I haven’t updated this blog much lately. It’s not that I am low on material – if anything, I have an overabundance of things to write about. In fact, I intended to write up some updates today, but my plans were de-railed when I got word that my friends were driving [...]
