mouseandhat Wednesday: The art of spaghetti
It was something of a running joke with my housemates that I eat huge amounts of spaghetti every day. I don't eat it every day, just most days. The process of cooking and preparing spaghetti has become something of a ritual for me, so to address this topic, I think I will give some tips that I have learned on THE ART OF SPAGHETTI.
mouseandhat Wednesday: 10 best moments of senior year
It's been a tough week and a half. I am no longer an OU student, I am now an OU graduate. I don't feel any different, but that's not so strange. It's not as if I suddenly changed as a person after the graduation ceremony a few weekends ago; the process took about four years. To be honest, I kind of wish it weren't over already. I wish I had more time to hang out with my friends, more time to learn new things. Granted, I can still spend time with friends and hobbies, but now that we have all gone on to our own homes and new jobs (or hopes for new jobs), it's tougher. I also wonder about those friendships that never fully blossomed, those people whom I would not likely see again. That said, here's a rundown of the 10 best moments of senior year. I may be missing some, and others might be a bit of a stretch. Part of the reason some of them were chosen was because I had photo evidence of them occurring. My memory isn't the best, and I don't always think to take pictures.
mouseandhat week hiatus
I hate to say this, but the next mouseandhat update will have to wait until next week. I have started [...]
mouseandhat Wednesday: Pastafarianism
A few months ago, I was considering the intricacies of Pastafarianism when I found myself lost in The Void. The feeling was utterly immersive. Every color had meaning, every sound caught my ear and yanked my head in search of danger. I could tell that, in The Void, I had entered a unique world with an ecology and anatomy all its own, one removed from reality but at the same time touching on the same foundation.
mouseandhat Wednesday: Jake Fest
I thought I would try something new for this mouseandhat post. My housemate Jake hosted a house party last weekend, dubbed Jake Fest. I sat down with him for a little while to ask him a few questions about the event. Rather than posting a script of my questions and his responses, I decided to record the interview and intersperse his responses with images from the party using iMovie HD.
mouseandhat Wednesday: Swing Dance
Over the past year or so, I have learned how to dance a handful of different swing styles, including East Coast, Charleston and the Lindy Hop. Given today's topic, I thought I might try to provide some instruction on how to perform some basic Lindy Hop steps. All information comes from sessions with the Ohio University Jitterbug Club, under the instruction of Alicia Gooding and Ben Ashman.
mouseandhat Wednesday: love for your dog(s)
For the greater part of my youth - from before kindergarten to near the end of my senior year of high school - my family had a Dalmatian named Penny. Named after a character from "101 Dalmatians", she was adored by my brothers and I. My mom, on the other hand, was not as fond of the dog as us kids were. Penny was an ornery dog, paying little attention to commands and habitually chewing up anything she could get hold of, even if that meant jumping up on tables and counters. It would be an overstatement to say that my mother hated the dog, but on many occasions, she would say half-jokingly that our next dog would be a labrador retriever because they are more well-behaved...
mouseandhat Wednesday (almost): Jackie Robinson
I am slowly but surely getting on track with these posts. I had my list midterm today, so perhaps now my schedule will return to normal - whatever that means. Today's submission comes from my friend Marc-André Chambers, who has introduced me to some of the bands that I have covered on this blog before. Apart from enjoying good music, however, Marc-André is also an avid sports fan, which is why it came as no surprise that he submitted "Jackie Robinson".
mouseandhat Wednesday(ish): 3D revolution
For those keeping track, yes, I failed to post an update on Wednesday. I ran into some technical difficulties, which compounded the larger issue of midterm exams, and I took yesterday evening to recover (read: play video games). My apologies. Today, I will write about what should have been Wednesday's topic, "3D revolution" submitted by my housemate Jake, and I will pick up the next topic on Wednesday of next week (hopefully). Here goes.
New blogging gimmick: mouseandhat
I would just like to draw your attention to a new gimmick feature I have added to this blog: mouseandhat, also known as Hatblog Wednesdays. [mouseandhat] I have set an upturned hat outside the door to my room, with a pile of scraps of paper next to it. I told my housemates to write down ideas for blog articles on the scraps of paper and put them in the hat. Every Wednesday, I will randomly draw one scrap of paper from the hat, and by the following Wednesday, I will write a blog article based on what the paper says.
